Zena Simpson Carter Zena Simpson Carter FORT WORTH -- Zena Simpson Carter passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Aug. 03, 2016. Service: 10 a.m. Friday in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Born in Paducah on March 9, 1918, Zena was the daughter of Charles and Minnie Hughes Simpson. A child of the depression era, she learned the importance of faith and building and maintaining relationships. She was an accomplished pianist and an avid reader. Zena loved all things "western!" She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathryn Joyce Sanderson Diaz; and grandson, John Phillip Aaron. Survivors: In addition to her daughter and her husband, Elaine and Cliff Shaw, Zena was grandmother to Charles, Kerry, David and Donald Potter, Tanya Aaron and Joshua and Joseph Shaw; she also had several great-grandchildren.
