WINSTON BOND PAYNE

May 23, 1985 — March 23, 2024

Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas – Winston Bond Payne passed peacefully into his eternal life with his personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at home early Saturday morning, March 23.

Family and friends will gather from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, April 2, in the Great Room at the funeral home.

Born in Houston, Winston was the son of Ann and Wally Payne.   After moving to Fort Worth as an infant, he attended Fort Worth public schools, graduating from R. L. Paschal High School.  He then attended the University of Oklahoma and Texas Tech University where he was a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.  While living in Lubbock, he met his best friend and wife, Linda.

Winston had a very kind and humble heart and lived out those values every day.  He loved all things outdoors:  rocks, gardening, hiking and running.  Through his studies, he could identify many plants, trees, rocks and materials and describe their attributes and uses.  He especially enjoyed playing golf with his father and wife.

A great cook, he spent hours perfecting the art of smoking meats.  Winston was an avid reader and loved history.  He also had a love of music, playing his guitar and even writing lyrics.

Most of all, Winston loved his family.  That love brought him back to Fort Worth where he worked in land surveying.  He proudly thought of his work as being a part of constructing lives “for the people” as he helped lay out new neighborhoods.

He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Barrett, and his grandparents, Margaret and Calvin Payne and William Scott.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Winston is survived by his parents; grandmother, Jean Scott; step-children, David, Greg, Stephanie, Anthony and Stephen, and many, many aunts, uncles and cousins.  Winston was very deeply loved.
