Mr. WILLIAM MORGAN AUGUSTAN SCOTT Jr.

FORT WORTH -- William Morgan Augustan Scott Jr. went home peacefully to his Creator, surrounded by his family, Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. He was 13 days shy of 82 years old. Mr. Scott will be laid to rest privately in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends will gather 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Born Dec. 16, 1932, in Gilmer, Bill was the son of William Morgan Augustan and Loraine Hyde Scott of Big Sandy. While he was a small boy, the family moved to Fort Worth where he attended public schools and Texas Christian University. Bill started work when he was 9 years old, as a paperboy in south Fort Worth. He worked many years in the grain industry as a trader, executive and corporate officer in the domestic and export markets for Kimbell Milling Co., Uhlmann Elevators, Goodpasture Grain and Union Equity, retiring as senior vice president of Union Equity. Bill was active in a number of grain trade associations, holding offices in Texas Grain and Feed Association, National Grain and Feed Association and others, including president of Fort Worth Grain Exchange. After retiring, he enjoyed working in the law office of his son, John. Bill felt honored to be a member of the United Methodist Church for nearly 60 years, and worked in numerous local church jobs. He was a humble man of deep integrity, whose faith stood as an example to all who knew him. Neither curse nor cross word was ever spoken by Bill. He was an avid outdoorsman who shared his love of his dogs, camping, fishing, exploring mountain streams and trails, and making arrowheads with his wife, children and grandchildren. The whole family will miss his omniscent knowledge of weather and constant warnings of fog. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandsons, Joshua Scott Hedges and William Barrett Payne. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 63 years, Jean Barrett Scott, Bill is survived by his daughter, Ann Scott Payne and her husband, Wally; daughter, Susan Scott Kitchens and her husband, Andy; son, William Morgan A. Scott III and his wife, Sarah; and son, John Barret Scott and his wife, Talley. Those who called him Grandfather are Michael Taylor Hedges, Winston Bond Payne, John Andrew Barret Scott, Thomas Alexander Scott, Jane Morgan Scott and William Morgan A. Scott IV. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Rucker; sister-in-law, Carole Barrett Chambers and her husband, Eugene; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
