FORT WORTH -- Virginia Jones Hobbs passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Nov. 6, 2014, just a few days shy of her 88th birthday. Service: A service will be held at the grave at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Born in Sherman on Nov. 11, 1926, Virginia was the daughter of J. Clyde and Adelaide Jones. While she was an infant, her family moved to the home built by her great uncle in 1913 on West Division Street in Arlington. She attended R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Stephens College in Missouri and graduated from Texas Christian University. Following World War II, Virginia married Robert Hobbs of Fort Worth. Throughout an active life, she loved playing tennis, reading books and traveling. She and her husband were among the adventurous passengers who flew on the Concorde supersonic airliner during one of their excursions to Europe. Virginia was a kind and generous woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Alan Randall Hobbs; and sister and brother-in-law, Adelaide and Harold Griffin. Survivors: Virginia is survived by a niece and nephew, Adelaide Griffin and Brooks Griffin.
