Mrs. VESTA LEE JACKSON

KILGORE -- Vesta Lee Jackson, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at a Kilgore care center. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday in Robertson Mueller Harper Chapel. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for visitation at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Vesta Lee was born Sept. 6, 1923, to Clarence William Newsom and Mary Anita Taylor Newsom. She was a graduate of Polytechnic High School, where she played clarinet in the marching band. She received a degree in arts from TCU. As a member of University Christian Church, she was active in the women's circles. Vesta Lee was a longtime leader in the Camp Fire Girls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius "Connie" Jackson, in 2011. Survivors: Daughter, Pamela Pipkin of Kilgore; son, Michael Jackson of Louisiana; and nieces and nephews.
