GRANBURY -- Vernon Ray Lambert, 90, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013. Vernon Ray Lambert was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Clifton to Ira and Agnes Ringness Lambert. He was a fighter pilot for the U.S. Navy, stationed on the USS Lexington. The ship cruised the islands of Guam, the Marianas, and Saipan where Lambert flew protective cover for B-29s on their raids over Tokyo. He was a longtime resident and employee of the city of Fort Worth. Vernon was preceded in death by his wives, Sue Hix Lambert and Juanita Cox Lambert. Survivors: Daughters, Suzanne Chambers, Shari Barron and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Micah Chambers and wife, Vanessa, Kelly McCampbell and Riley McCampbell; great-grandchild, Katelynn Chambers; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
