Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas – Dr. Vernon George Ellis Jr. has left this physical world to be with the Lord and to reunite with his loving wife, Sandy.

Family and friends will gather from 5 to 7 pm Friday, October 27, in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper.  A Service at the Grave will be held privately with an Honor Guard from Moslah Patrol.

Born in the “Steel City,” Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Vern was the son of Vernon George and Marjorie Isabella Steeves Ellis.  Following graduation from high school, he went on to pursue his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario, with Sandy by his side.

Married on June 6, 1940, Vern and Sandy moved to Fort Worth in July of 1978.  Together, they raised three wonderfully successful grown children.

Vern was well known throughout the community of Fort Worth, leaving behind vast friends, patients and colleagues.  He was a Past Potentate of Moslah Shrine, Past President of Moslah Patrol and Past Director, Past Impressario and Impressario Emeritus of the Royal Order of Jesters, Court No. 32.

His family wishes to express their appreciation to all the caregivers in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sandra Lee “Sandy” Ellis, who died in 2020.

In addition to his children, Rt. Commander Scott Ellis and his wife, Jamie, Dr. Greg Ellis and his close personal friend, Sundie, and Tracey Roberson and her husband, Greg; grandchildren, Lt. Grant Ellis and his wife, Abby, Dr. Lauren Cargill and her husband, Kyle, Garret Ellis and London Roberson; great-granddaughter, Gyda Cargill, and a great-grandson on the way.

In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, in his memory, is suggested.

Now Vern, “Go rest high on the mountain!”
