Mr. TOMMIE JOE GUSTAFSON

FORT WORTH -- Tommie Joe Gustafson died peacefully early Tuesday morning, Dec. 31, 2013, during his 69th year. His cremated remains will be placed privately with his parents in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Fort Worth Chapter of the American Heart Association, 2630 West Fwy., Ste. 250, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, or a charity of one's choice, in his memory, is suggested. Born in Houston on Sept. 5, 1944, Tommie was the son of Elmer E. and Zollie Belle Gustafson. He was a 1963 graduate of R.L. Paschal High School where he played football before attending Kansas State University on a football scholarship. Following college, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. In his younger years, Tommie was active in the Panther Boys Club and competed in the Golden Gloves. Tommie's career involved construction and remodeling, and he taught line-dancing in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Tommie will be remembered for his unselfishness, hard-work ethic and the many kindnesses he showed others. He will be missed by morning coffee friends at the Daybreak Cafe. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Ronnie, who also died in 2013. Survivors: In addition to his sisters, Fran Gustafson McLeroy and Linda Gustafson Gosdin, both of Fort Worth, Tommie is survived by his niece, Shelley McLeroy Brooks and her children of Arlington.
