Mr. THOMAS HARROLD HOYLER

FORT WORTH -- Thomas Harrold Hoyler peacefully went to be with the Lord, at his home, on Wednesday morning, Dec. 7, 2016. Mr. Hoyler was 91. Service: 10 a.m. Monday at Ridglea Presbyterian Church, 6201 Camp Bowie Blvd. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Doris, in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Harrold was born in Cleburne on April 18, 1925, raised in Forest Hill and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1942. He joined the United States Navy Air Corps, A12 program. At the end of World War II, and with the assistance of the GI Bill, he attended Texas A&M with a major in mechanical engineering. He graduated in 1949 and was a member of the honor society for engineers, Tau Beta Pi. Harrold married Doris Marie Overton on Dec. 16, 1950. Together, they began Hoyler Painting contracting business and were a great team. Their business and family prospered. They developed many longstanding friendships that gave them reason for travel and much joy and support. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a faithful friend, successful businessman and a deeply devoted husband to the love of his life, Doris. Their children much appreciate the loving, welcoming and nurturing home they created. He was proud to be a 33rd-degree Mason, a member at Deer Creek Lodge #510, A.F. & A.M. He was a longstanding member of Moslah Shrine, past captain of its Patrol Unit and a member of the Fort Worth ROJ, Court 32. Harrold received the Carnegie Hero Award for his part in a rescue of 15 workers from a burning oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mabel Hoyler; wife, Doris Overton Hoyler; brother, Wilburn Hoyler; and sisters, Faye Price and Mary Dinkins Howard. Survivors: In addition to his children, David and Donna Hoyler, Tommy and Mara Hoyler, Pam and Mike Buschmann, and Cindy Hoyler and her wife, Tanya Voss, Harrold leaves behind nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his sister and her husband, Wilma and Don McComas; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
