THELMA STANDIFER

FORT WORTH -- Thelma Jane Keese Standifer, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully Tuesday evening, June 26, 2012, during her 95th year. Service: 11 a.m. Sunday in Carlton Cemetery, Carlton. Visitation: She will lie in state on Saturday at Robertson Mueller Harper where family and friends will gather in the Great Room from 3 to 5 p.m. Born in Burleson County on Dec. 16, 1917, where her family lived at the tie plant, Thelma was the daughter of Charles Joseph and Jessie Leora Matthews Keese. She was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Thelma married William Scott Standifer on Jan. 6, 1946; the couple moved to Fort Worth in 1948. A longtime member of Arlington Heights United Methodist Church, she was an early member of the Missionary Society. Her memberships also included AAUW, the American Association of University Women, the Archeological Society of Tarrant County, the Fort Worth Farm and Ranch Club and the Begonia Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Sarah. Survivors: In addition to her daughters, Margaret "Maggie" Standifer Fair and husband, Ted, and Mary Standifer and husband, Dale Henry, Thelma is survived by her grandchildren, Thomas Fair and wife,Tami, and Kelly Fair and Cory Anderson, Hannah Henry and Emery Henry; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Theo Fair; and nieces and nephews and their families.
