FORT WORTH -- Susanne Patricia Devich passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, with her daughters at her side. Mrs. Devich was 78. Service: Following a private committal service on Tuesday, Susanne was laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association, in her memory, is suggested. Born Aug. 2, 1938, in Kalispell, Mont., Susanne and was raised in Yakima, Wash. She was the oldest of three children and graduated from Holy Names College in Spokane, Wash., in 1958, where she served as Student Body President. She later earned her master's degree in social work from the University of Washington in Seattle and spent ten years in social work helping children and families. In 1980, she moved to Houston and began what grew into a thriving management consulting business. An avid photographer, she studied black & white photography at the Glassell School of Art in Houston. Susanne moved to Fort Worth in 2011 to be close to her family and her beloved grandsons. She loved the arts, to travel and enjoyed movies at the Modern Art Museum. Susanne affected a world of others beyond her family and friends through her generosity, warmth and compassion and belief in the human spirit. The family would like to thank friends and staff at the Westmore and VITAS Hospice for the care and kindnesses shown to Susanne. She is preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Frank Devich. Survivors: In addition to her daughters, Colleen Whalen and Michelle Whalen Sankary and her husband, Scott, Susanne is survived by her grandsons, Ben and Jack Sankary; brothers, John Devich and his wife, Maureen, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Mark Devich of Olympia, Wash.; cousins, James McLeod of Nashville, Tenn., Richard McLeod and his wife, Annie, and Susan McGurk and her husband, Mike, all of Butte, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
