FORT WORTH -- Sidney Elbert "Bunky" Stout II died peacefully Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2013, during his 78th year. Memorial Service: 6 p.m. Wednesday at The Salvation Army ARC, 2901 N. E. 28th Street. It was Bunky's desire for cremation. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Salvation Army ARC, in his memory is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on Oct. 23, 1935, Bunky was the son of Dr. Sidney and Helen Stout. He service in the U. S. Air Force and married the love of his life, Ruthell Powers in 1964 in Little Rock, Ark. During the 1960's Bunky worked for Congressman Jim Wright and the Community Action Agency in Fort Worth. From 1968 to 1972, he worked for the Texas Commission on Alcoholism through the NIAAA in Washington, D.C. His last job in Washington was as Department Director for the National Center for Alcohol Education. And from 1983 to the present, he was founder and CEO for USA Patch. Bunky got sober in AA on Nov. 18, 1966, and for the next 46 years carried the message to other alcoholics. He spent 20 years volunteering at The Salvation Army ARC in Fort Worth. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Ruthell, Bunky is survived by his son, David; and brothers, Bill, Mike and David and their families.
