Shiva and minyan services will be held at the home of Lisa and Sam Neuman on Tuesday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one's choice, in Sidney's memory, is suggested. Born in Dallas, Sidney was one of four children; he and his family lived in several Texas cities. He was a talented athlete who received a tennis scholarship to the University of New Mexico. After serving in the military during World War II, he graduated from the University of Tennessee, School of Optometry. Dr. Lane began his practice in downtown Fort Worth, relocating to Hulen Mall in later years. After retiring in 1985, his passion was playing tennis several times a week and he enjoyed swimming. Determination and perseverance were two strong qualities he exemplified. He always had several projects around the house and was quite the handyman. A devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, we are so thankful to have had him in our lives and will miss him always. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Rebecca, and siblings, Ruth Fields, David Lee and Jean Susman, all of Denver, Colo. Survivors: In addition to his wife and best friend of over 63 years, Florine, Sidney is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Sam Neuman of Fort Worth, and son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Zelda Lane of Dallas; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kim Neuman, Lindsay and Michael Cobert, Danny Lane, Michael Lane, and Allyson and Mick Blaskovich; and great-grandchildren, Addison and Cooper Neuman.
