FORT WORTH -- On Monday afternoon, January 29, 2018, we lost a devoted mother, bubbie, aunt, sibling and friend in Shirley Goodwin, after a tenacious fight with pulmonary disease. Mrs. Goodwin was 86. Service: A service at the grave will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, 411 N. University Drive. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Larry. Memorials: For religious reasons, the family requests that no flowers be sent. However, consideration of contributions to Congregation Ahavath Sholom, in her memory, is suggested. Shirley grew up in Dallas and went to Forest Avenue High School. The love of her life, Larry Goodwin, whisked her away to Fort Worth for a storybook marriage of friends and travel, and helping him build the Larry’s Shoes family business. They were together for 66 years. A lifetime member of Hadassah, Shirley had a sense of style and sharp wit, and more than anything, was known for her love of family. She lived life to the fullest and was cherished by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Sadie Grabstald; husband, Larry; and her sister, Norma Lukin and her husband, Robert of Dallas. SURVIVORS: In addition to her devoted children, Laurie Bartlett and David, Debbie Cooper and Elliot Goodwin, Shirley is survived by her grandchildren, Mikey Abrams and Scott Taylor, Brian Abrams, Melanie Cooper and Jason Welch, Ken Cooper and Jill; Parker, Myles and Sara, and Jordan and Zoe Goodwin; great-grandchildren Braydon Welch and Sasha and Madison Cooper; brother Bobby Grabstald and Kathie.
