FORT WORTH -- Sandra Freedman Baum, loving wife and mother, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 19, 2015. Mrs. Baum was 79 years old. Service: 11 a.m. Sunday in the Sanctuary of Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road, with Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger officiating. Sandra will be laid to rest in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. Minyan service will be held Sunday at the Temple, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Beth-El Congregation, in her memory, is suggested. Born Jan. 2, 1936, in Ada, Okla., Sandra was the only child of Philip and Birdie Gordon Freedman. Her childhood years were spent in Oklahoma City, Okla., before moving to Dallas, where she attended Highland Park High School. She continued her education at Stephens College and the University of Texas at Austin. Sandra lived and worked in Dallas before marrying Kenneth Baum in 1959 and moving to Fort Worth. Together Sandra and Kenneth raised their three children. She dedicated herself to her husband, children and grandchildren. She had a sparkling sense of humor, a keen wit, and a great sense of fashion. Shopping with her girls and keeping up with the latest styles were among her favorite things in life. She also passed on an appreciation of classic movies and music to all of her children and enjoyed sharing stories of meeting movie stars while visiting family in California when she was a child. Survivors: In addition to her husband, Kenneth, Sandra is survived by her children, Howard and his wife, Joy, Alissa and her husband, Lloyd, and Mindy and her husband, Norman; and five grandchildren, Evan, Ella, Austin, Hazel and Jessica.
