Beloved family leader, community leader, mentor, teacher and friend, Sam Reznikoff was a Lower East Side kid born in New York City in 1921, youngest of six children of Jewish immigrant parents. The Army Air Corps brought him to Texas with the Troop Carrier Command squadron, where he met the young nurse Mary Dorothy Valliant. They married on New Year's Eve in Austin. His beloved Dorothy died in 1979. The post-war years took the young couple to Fort Worth, where they raised their three children. Sam's career included work at Convair (today part of Lockheed Martin) and Stonestreet and Davis. In 1955, he became an agent with New York Life Insurance Co. Sam recently completed his 59th year as an agent, where he demonstrated exemplary service to his clients and was a sought-after mentor even after his retirement. Sam's long community service included the Junior Chamber of Commerce; the Fort Worth Youth Council; Congregation Ahavath Sholom board of directors and Men's Club president; Rubin Gilbert AZA boys' adviser; B'nai B'rith Youth Board president; 16 years as a volunteer with the Aids Outreach Center; Fort Worth Chapter Chartered Life Underwriters president; New York Life Agents Advisory Board; and Scout master. Survivors: In addition to his children, Stuart and Rebecca Reznikoff Isgur, Michael Reznikoff and Janet Williamson, Daniel Reznikoff, Dan and Jill Vaslow, Joel and Peggy Vaslow, Joshua and Dawn Vaslow and Elizabeth Vaslow Gordon, Sam is survived by 10 grandchildren; many loving great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews and their families.
