Mr. ROSS LAMAR CRAVENS

DALLAS -- Ross Lamar Cravens passed away peacefully early Friday morning, March 14, 2014. Mr. Cravens was 39 years old. Memorial service: A celebration of Ross' life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Austin Steam Train Association or the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Centers, in his memory, is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on April 27, 1974, Ross graduated from Southwest High School and the University of Texas at Austin before earning an M.S. in city and regional planning from the University of Texas at Arlington. Ross filled his days working in transportation, volunteering for the Austin Steam Train Association and the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority. Bowling, biking, singing karaoke, exploring the city on foot, scouting out new restaurants, dancing, going to shows and sporting events, and spending time with friends, were among his favorite activities. The greatest joys of his life were traveling and sharing adventures with his wife, Heidi, and all things train related. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Heidi Mims-Cravens of Dallas, Ross is survived by his parents, Claudia and Philip Cravens of San Angelo; sister and brother-in-law, Robyn and Brent Christensen of Austin; nieces and nephews, Sunny and Wills Christensen, Kaylee and Sydney Mims, Sydney, Justin and Kylie Chesser; and many other loving family and friends.
