ROSE MARIE ANDERSON THOMAS

May 31, 1953 — February 16, 2025

Granbury

Rose Anderson Thomas went to be with her Savior, Christ the Lord, on Sunday morning, February 16, 2025. She was 71 years old. Born May 31, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas, Rose was the daughter of Edward S. Anderson, Jr. and Marie Jungerman Anderson. Rose is survived by her loving husband of the last 40 years William Patrick McLean of Granbury, her stepchildren Karen McLean of Granbury, Jesse McLean (Maggie) of Dallas, Josh Doherty (Dawn) of Dallas, Molly Doherty Hensley (Sean) of Bastrop, and her six beloved grandchildren: twin granddaughters Olivia and Keegan McLean, and grandsons Will Doherty and Jacob, Jaden and Drake Hensley. In addition, she is survived by her brother Ben Anderson (Celeste) of Denton, her niece Heather Anderson Gingrich (Troy) of Lewisville, their children Sarah and William, and her nephew Jordan Anderson (Annie) of Edmond, Oklahoma, and their children Magnolia and Phoenix. Rose has many loving cousins and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents. Growing up in the 1950s and 60s, Rose was occupied mostly by school, friends, church, singing in the choir, and family celebrations. A great part of Rose’s life was spent at Trinity Lutheran Church as part of the confirmation class, Luther League, choir, and youth group. She graduated from Eastern Hills High School and attended Stephen F. Austin State University for her college studies. She began her full-time career with Texas Electric in Fort Worth before moving to Austin in the mid-1970s where she held positions in several accounting, financial management and property management organizations. She was an invaluable component of every firm she worked with. Rose spent the last 35 years working in tandem with her husband Pat and their partner Michael Devlin as consultants to pension plan sponsors. She and Pat moved from Austin to Lake Granbury in 2018 to be closer to her parents and family members. Travel and creating wonderful memories were a big part of Rose and Pat’s life from the early 1980s to the present. Rose had a lifelong curiosity to see and experience the world, art, architecture, local cultures, peoples, but always returned home to her greatest treasures - family and friends. The measure of a life is best gauged by the impression someone makes on others. From her earliest years until her passing, Rose was an extraordinary and loyal friend. Friends she made in every phase of her life are still her valued friends today. Rose, aka “Sosie” to family, left a lasting mark on anyone she befriended, cared for, loved, blessed, and stayed in touch with. She lived her life in a way that said, “other people are special and important to me, and I will always let them know with a call, visit, text, email, card or gift”. Her loving heart and generous, caring spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family requests that donations in Rose’s memory be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, UTSW Moncrief Cancer Institute, the Tarrant Area Food Bank, or a charity of your choice.
