Rose Perlman Sankary, beloved wife, extraordinary mother, loving "Momo Rose," devoted sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully at home Saturday, May 12, 2012, surrounded by love and the presence of her family, during her 85th year. The world will be a little less joyful as we will miss a woman of great warmth, generosity and faith. Born on Jan. 29, 1927, to Thomas and Eva Levy Perlman in Wilkes Barre, Pa., Rose was the fifth of seven extremely close knit children, due in great part to their parents, who instilled solid values and a strong sense familial responsibility on each of them. Rose worked from the time she was 14 years old in a clothing factory and local dress store all before graduating GAR High School at 17. After graduation she moved to New York and worked for Benay Manufacturing Company. She met the love of her life, Al Sankary, when visiting her brother, Jack, in Fort Worth. All it took was one date and their love affair began. Together they raised three beautiful children and treasured experiencing life's journeys together. Family was always an integral part of Rose's life and her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth. Rose worked side by side with Al as they grew Al's Formal Wear into the largest family-owned chain of tuxedo stores in the Southwest. Year after year she dedicated herself to her family, growing the business with Al, and being very involved in the community. Family was the most important part of Rose. The Sankary household was always busy with friends and family as Rose loved to entertain. Rose believed philanthropy and community service were among the height of good deeds. Rose had a passion for helping others personally and religiously by giving selflessly of her time in addition to countless contributions to her synagogue, Congregation Ahavath Shalom, Hadassah, The Jewish Federation and numerous organizations around the world. She was honored with awards for her dedication and generosity. Rose's family and friends will remember her as a true friend and wonderful woman who always put others before herself. May her memory forever endure as a blessing. At this time, the family's deepest gratitude is extended to Dr. Michael Ross, Tori Hunter, Jennifer Cooper, Pat Stroope, Diana Miller and Amanda Edwards who walked the path with Rose this past year. The family is forever grateful for their extraordinary care and love. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Al; son, Tommy; parents, Thomas and Eva Levy Perlman; along with her brothers, Jack, Jerry, Marty, Myer; and sister, Ruth.
