FORT WORTH -- Ronald L. Sloter passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, Nov. 13, 2012, during his 76th year. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday in the sanctuary of Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road, with Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger officiating. He will receive military honors under the auspices of Martin Hochster Jewish War Veterans Post 755. Following committal prayers and additional military honors Friday in San Antonio, he will be laid to rest in Beth-El Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Beth-El Congregation or the Martin Hochster Jewish War Veterans Post 755, in care of Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 4050 S. Hulen St., Fort Worth, Texas 76109, in his memory, is suggested. Born Aug. 16, 1936, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., Ron was raised in New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962, during which time he met his wife, Audrey. Ron and Audrey married Nov. 24, 1962, in San Antonio, where they lived until 2003; they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary later this month. In 2003, they moved to Fort Worth to be closer to family. Ron was a dedicated husband and proud father and grandfather. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Audrey, Ron is survived by his sons, Scott Sloter and Marc Sloter and his wife, Jude; his grandchildren, Mollie, Caroline and Stewart; and his sister, Sherry Dickinson of Schenectady, N.Y., and her family.
