AURORA, COLO. -- Robert "Bob" Kahn passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2014. Mr. Kahn was 96 years old. Service: A service will be held at the grave at 11 a.m. Monday in the Beth-El Section in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76109, or Shalom Cares, 14800 E. Belleview Drive, Aurora, Colo. 80015, in his memory, is suggested. Robert Kahn was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Muskogee, Okla., the son of Russian immigrants, Frank and Minnie Krawitz Kahn. He attended school in Muskogee where he was captain of the high school football team and played a "pretty mean trumpet" in the band. In 1940, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with degrees in mechanical and petroleum engineering. In 1947, Bob married Mollye Anne Davis of Fort Worth. They had two daughters, Shere and Reisa. Bob's career as an engineer started at Consolidated Vultee Aircraft in San Diego. After a brief time there, he and a friend opened a small lumber and furniture manufacturing company in Eagle Ford, Texas. Subsequently, he became an engineer at General Dynamics in Fort Worth where he remained for 39 years. His last position was as director of a consortium with Holland, Belgium, Norway, and Denmark to produce the F16 airplane. Throughout his life, Bob made furniture and clocks for family and friends. After retiring from General Dynamics in 1978, Bob and Mollye started a mail-order porcelain art business. He invented specialty products for porcelain painters and he and Mollye traveled in the United States and Europe with their business until 1994. After several years in a retirement community in Georgetown, Bob and Mollye moved to the Denver area to be closer to their daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Mollye, who died in 2012; and by his siblings Sam, Ezie, and Rose. Survivors: In addition to his daughters and their husbands, Shere and Mark and Reisa and George, Bob is survived by his grandchildren, Elin and Kevin, Sam, Max and Natalie, and Josh and Julie; great-grandchildren, Eliza, Alexi and Madeline; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
