Fort Worth, Texas – Robert “Bob” Akin, 88, went to be with his Lord Monday evening, October 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 27, 1936, in Bastrop, Louisiana, he was the cherished son of John and Esther Akin.
Bob honorably served his country as a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. After returning to Fort Polk, Louisiana, he met and married his beloved wife, Gail, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Bob dedicated 40 years to his career with Terminix, where he was respected and admired.
A passionate golfer, Bob loved playing beautiful courses around the country. Above all, his faith and family were the cornerstones of his life. He was a constant source of love and devotion to those around him.
The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to caretakers, Georgia Anderson and Phillip Dennis, along with hospice nurses, Christian Davis and Leila Edwards.

In addition to his wife, Gail, Bob is survived by his daughter, Denise Schrader and her husband, Eric; son, Bob Jr. and his wife, Nan; five grandchildren, Andrew Schrader and his wife, Jessica, Sarah Lindsey and her husband, John, Caroline Spalla and her husband, Taylor, Allie Sooter and her husband, Brett, and Brooks Akin and his wife, Gracie; and seven great-grandchildren, Henry, Millie and Davis Lindsey, Victoria and Grant Schrader and Cecilia and Camille Spalla.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Family and friends will gather from 1 to 2 pm Monday, October 21, at Travis Avenue Baptist Church, 800 W. Berry Street, with a Celebration of His Life to begin at 2 pm. He will be laid to rest privately in Greenwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Travis Avenue Baptist Church, in his memory, is suggested.
