Fort Worth, Texas - Quita Crow Scarborough passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 9. She was 86. Born in Mexia, Quita was the daughter of Chester and Elizabeth Miller Crow. She grew up with her four sisters, wherever her father served as minister of the Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church. In 1954, she married JA Scarborough, together they had four children. The couple divorced in 1985. In 1958, Quita began working at South Hills Christian Church as the organist, choir director and more often than not, both. In the late 60’s, Quita returned to TCU to finish her music/organ degree, graduating a few years later. She worked closely with the organ builder and the architect of the new sanctuary on the design and acoustical work needed to achieve the best possible sound quality. She was so very proud to have been a part in the growth of South Hills Christian Church. Music, faith, and family were everything to her. She retired after 40 plus years there; but, continued to study at music workshops sponsored by the Association of Disciples Musicians (ADM), across the country. She also served as president of the association for a period of time. In addition to her four children and their spouses, Quita is survived by seven grandsons and their spouses; three great-grandsons; and three of her sisters. A memorial service is planned for a date in late April or early May. Music will play a big role in celebrating Quita’s incredible life.
