FORT WORTH -- Phill Ellis Phillips, a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, died peacefully late Tuesday evening, June 25, 2013, during his 64th year. Service: Mr. Phillips will receive military honors at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends will gather in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Born Oct. 5, 1948, in Tupelo, Miss., Phill was the son of Lester and Earlene Phillips. He relocated to Fort Worth at a young age where he attended school and graduated from Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School in 1966. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he was an elite member of the U.S. Army Pistol Team as well as serving in Vietnam. After his military career, Phill attended the University of North Texas, earning a degree in accounting which led him to become a certified public accountant. His CPA gave him the knowledge and confidence to start his own business until retirement in 2008. In 1990, Phill met the love of his life, Vira, they've been married ever since. This marriage blended several families together leading to grand events during the holidays. Phill was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Sunnie Friedemann. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Vira, Phill is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Lisa Auger and Gregg, Shay Weidner and Casey, Lindsey Friesen and Bobby, and Courtney Crowder and Charles; sons, Wesley Phillips, Terrence Pattie, Ryan Phillips and fiancee, Kristie Zuber, and Lance Friedemann and wife, Mandi; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; mother, Earlene; and sister and husband, Patty Burdette and Dewayne and their family.
