Peggy Shelby Hardegree, age 85, passed away on Saturday, July 23. She was born on April 15, 1937 in San Angelo, Texas to Clyde and Modell Shelby, and married her husband, Howard Hardegree, on January 23, 1960 in their hometown of San Angelo. She graduated from North Texas State College with an education degree in music and then obtained a Master of Arts from Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. She was a consummate pianist who shared her passion with countless students and friends at home, school, and church. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 31, at Arborlawn United Methodist Church, Elizabeth Cramer Chapel, 5001 Briarhaven Rd, Fort Worth. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 1 at 9:15 am at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Howard and is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Haines and husband Dennis, son Scott Hardegree and wife Julie; grandsons Patrick Haines and wife Rachel, Ryan Haines and wife Alyssa; Austin Hardegree and Hayden Hardegree; and great grandsons Luke and Brandon Haines; brother Corky Shelby and wife Mary; and extended family, friends, and her beloved dog, Max. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Arborlawn Foundation at Arborlawn UMC, K9s for Warriors, or Texas Music Project.
