FORT WORTH -- Paul Nudleman, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully afternoon Saturday, May 25, 2013, during his 91st year. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Kornbleet Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 411 N. University Drive, with Rabbi Andrew Bloom and Cantor Shoshana Abrams officiating. He will receive military honors under the auspices of Martin Hochster Jewish War Veterans Post 755. Following committal prayers, Paul will be laid to rest in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Congregation Ahavath Shalom, Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, or a charity of choice, in his memory, is suggested. Born July 24, 1921, in Fort Worth, Paul was the son of Morris and Ida Spigel Nudleman. He graduated from Central High School, now R.L. Paschal, in 1939. Paul served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed at Burtonwood Air Depot in Warrington, England. He married Rhea Goldstein in Dallas on Dec. 1, 1946, and shared 66 love-filled years together. He and Rhea raised their family in Fort Worth. Upon returning from his service overseas he took over his father's business, Morris Jewelry, which was established in downtown Fort Worth in 1917 and continued to run the business until his retirement in 1999. In addition, he founded Morris Discount Shoes, one of the nation's first mail-order men's discount shoe businesses and also established RePaul Real Estate Investment Company. Like his grandparents and parents before him he was a longtime member of Congregation Ahavath Sholom. His memberships also included B'nai Brith, the Martin Hochster Jewish War Veterans Post 755 and he served on the board of Tarrant County Hebrew Free Loan. Paul was a fan of the great outdoors, an avid golfer and enjoyed boating and fishing. In addition he was an absolute fitness buff. He played handball competitively until the age of 84 and did deep water aerobics until the age of 86. His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Paul Goldman and especially the staff at Fort Worth Center of Rehabilitation which became his "second home." He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Rebecca Nudleman Weatherford, Katie Nudleman Leff, Edith Rice Ross. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Rhea, Paul is survived by his children, Stephen Nudleman, Susan Nudleman Cohen, and David Nudleman and his wife, Elisa, and Michael Cohen; grandchildren, Meagan Cohen, Matthew Cohen and Cameron Nudleman; and many friends from over the years.
