FORT WORTH -- Patsy Ruth Akey Corder, a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday morning, May 20, 2015, after a long illness. Mrs. Corder was 86 years old. Memorial Service: A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel at St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, 2700 McPherson Avenue. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity of choice, in her memory, is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on Jan. 17, 1929, Patsy was the daughter of Harold and Edna Mae Fortune Akey. She attended Texas Women's University and worked as a lab technician for Dr. T.C. Terrell before staying home to raise her children. She returned to the work as a Lab Technician later in life and continued her service of others in the healthcare field. Patsy was a longtime member of St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, the PEO Club, an avid reader and loved the Fort Worth Symphony. She was an incredibly smart woman and stayed informed, with strong opinions, about local and state issues until her very last days. The family wishes to thank the many men and women who took such great care of her, particularly Dr. Sukesh C. Burjonroppa for his compassion and kindness. Survivors: She will be greatly missed by her children, David Corder and his wife Becky, Cathy Corder and Mindy Manson and her husband, Bin; grandchildren Jenny O'Toole and her husband, Stephen, Andrew Manson, Kate Manson; and her adored great-grandson, Emerson O'Toole.
