FORT WORTH -- Patricia Jo Sherrard Hickey lost her battle with cancer to be in a better and peaceful place Sunday afternoon, Feb. 24, 2013, during her 60th year, surrounded by family and friends. Visitation: All who knew Pat and her family are welcome to join in celebrating her life 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Garden Room at Ridglea Country Club, 3700 Bernie Anderson Road. Memorials: In lieu of flowers and to honor her 23-plus-year battle with MS, Pat's family respectfully suggests considering contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, American Cancer Society or the Battered Women & Children's Shelter. Born Oct. 26, 1952, Pat was the daughter of Melton Ethridge and Nellen Ruth Garner Sherrard. A native Texan, she graduated from Western Hills High School in 1970 and attended computer programming college in Kansas before pursuing a 15-year career with National Trucking Service. Pat was a devoted wife, amazing mother and beloved family member and friend who will be remembered for her beautiful "heart of gold." She touched so many people during her journey in life and will be truly missed. We will cherish her memory in our hearts until we meet again. Survivors: In addition to her loving husband, Carl W. Hickey, Pat is survived by the pride and joy of her life and only daughter, Terri Sanker Taube; son-in-law, Michael Taube; sister, Carolyn McGee; brother, John Sherrard; nieces, Laura Moore, Leslie Henderson and Janssen Anderson; nephew, Preston Sherrard; and their families.
