FORT WORTH -- Omer Harold Ritchie, 87, was called to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 2014. Service: Family and friends will gather 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 18, at Robertson Mueller Harper, where a celebration of the Rev. Ritchie's life will begin at 11:30 a.m. Omer was born in Mobile, Ala., on Dec. 22, 1926. Since the age of 14, he devoted his entire life, along with his twin brother, Homer, to teaching and preaching the Gospel of Christ; together they co-pastored First Baptist Church of Fort Worth for more than 20 years. As a young preacher, Omer founded, organized and pastored several churches in various states, including Arizona, Indiana and Texas. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip; granddaughter, Amanda; and sister, Margie Allen. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 46 years, Cynthia, Omer is survived by his sons, Gary and Donna, Kevin, Randy and Vyrna, and David; grandchildren, Jennifer Challis, Ryan, Kelly, Ethan and Kristin Ritchie; great-grandson, Gage Spears; brothers, Homer and Al; sisters, Corrine Kral and Voncille Coleman; many nieces, nephews and other relatives; and countless friends.
