PLANO -- Nancy Jane Bernstein Rakoover passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, January 15, 2018. Mrs. Rakoover was 82. SERVICE: 2 p.m. Thursday in the Kornbleet Memorial Cemetery Chapel, located in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, 411 N. University Drive. Rabbi Andrew Bloom and Cantor Shoshana Abrams Kaikov will officiate. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Mark, in the cemetery. Shiva will be held Thursday afternoon at the home of Arthur and Linda Moses, with minyan service beginning at 6 p.m. MEMORIALS: For religious reasons, the family respectfully requests that no flowers be sent. However, consideration of contributions to Birthright Israel, the Warm Place, or JDFR, for juvenile diabetes research, in Nancy’s memory, is suggested. Nancy was born July 2, 1935, the daughter of Benjamin and Helen Bernstein. She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she met her late husband, Mark H. Rakoover. The couple married February 19, 1956 and moved to Fort Worth, where Mark was raised. Nancy taught in Fort Worth ISD as a special education teacher for 20 years. She was a member of Congregation Ahavath Shalom and moved from Fort Worth to Dallas and resided at the Legacy of Willow Bend. SURVIVORS: In addition to her children, Ronald Rakoover and his wife, Clara of Austin and Laura Rakoover Peitzer of Dallas, Nancy was grandmother to Evan, Shira, and Lavie Rakoover and Benjamin and Nathan Peitzer.
