FORT WORTH -- Milton Mintz, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died Friday evening, April 3, 2015. Mr. Mintz was 94 years old. Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Kornbleet Memorial Cemetery Chapel located in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, 411 N. University Drive, with Rabbi Andrew Bloom officiating. Military honors will be given by the Martin Hochster Jewish War Veterans Post 755. Following committal prayers, he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Betty. Shiva and minyan services will be held at the home of Joe and Kit Mintz, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials: The family respectfully requests that no flowers be sent. However, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Congregation Ahavath Sholom/USY Fund, Jewish Federation/Jewish Family Services, or a charity of choice. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Milton was born April 19, 1920, the son of Solomon and Anna Steiner Mintz. He was raised in Brooklyn and served in the United States Army from 1940 through 1945, participating in the World War II European campaign. Following his military service, Milton began his career as a cattle hide buyer with H. Elkon & Co. in Chicago, Ill., then Omaha, Neb., where he married his wife Betty Rebecca Mintz in 1950. They celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage before her passing in November, 2000. Milton moved with his family to Fort Worth in 1971 with a company change to Chilewich Corp. Betty and Milton relocated to Houston in 1981 due to a job transfer, but returned to Fort Worth in 1991 upon his retirement. He was a member of Congregation Ahavath Sholom, B'nai B'rith and the Martin Hochster Jewish War Veterans Post 755. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and his brother, Leonard Mintz of Arlington, Va. Survivors: Milton is survived by his children, Frances Mintz Brookstein of Northbrook, Ill., Joe and Kit Mintz of Fort Worth, and Alan Mintz of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Pamela Brookstein Burke and her husband, Ron, Mark Brookstein and his wife, Dana, Jacqueline and Stephanie Mintz, and David and William Mintz; great-grandchildren, Talia and Avra Burke, Lyla and Fisher Brookstein; his "almost brothers" - cousins, Lowell Mintz of New York, N.Y., and Dr. Norbert Mintz of Boston, Mass.
