FORT WORTH -- Mildred Jean Cerny Whatley passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, Aug. 19, 2013, during her 88th year. Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday in the chapel at Holy Family Catholic Church, 6150 Pershing Ave., with the Rev. Father Jeff Poirot, rector of the church, celebrant. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Doug, in St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, Wimberley. Family and friends will gather 8:30 to 9 a.m. Friday in the church's narthex. Bearers of her casket will be Jean's grandsons. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Holy Family Catholic Church or to a charity of one's choice, in her memory, is suggested. Married for 54 years to retired U.S. Air Force Col. Douglas E. Whatley, she and the family moved around the United States and Europe, as Doug was a fighter pilot in the Air Force. After 30 years of active duty and combat duty flying in three wars and upon retiring, Jean and Doug moved to Wimberley. Following Doug's death in 1996, Jean moved to Fort Worth to be closer to family. She lived at Broadway Plaza Cityview and was a parishoner at Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors: In addition to her children, Beverly Ross and husband, Michael, of Fort Worth, Chuck Whatley and wife, Sherri, of McKinney, Robin Dehlinger and husband, Charlie, of Longwood, Fla., and Judy Farmer and husband, Allan, of Abilene, Jean is survived by her grandchildren, Paul and Kristi Scully, Josh and Kelli Ross, Jeremy and Melissa Ross, Charlie Whatley, Inga and Tim Hsieh, Jana and Miles Bintz, Charlie and Mandy Dehlinger, Adam and Kathleen Dehlinger, Erin Dehlinger and Kristen and Baldemar Perez; and great-grandchildren, Barrett, Grayson, Alec, Walker, Gigi, Brayden, Jameson, Jace, Tristan, Kieren, Miles Michael, Joshua, Sydney and Troy.
