HOUSTON -- Mary Wallis Alexander Butler died peacefully at her daughter's home Friday afternoon, Aug. 29, 2014. She had recently turned 74 years old. Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper with the Rev. Dr. Lamar Smith of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her mother, Betty, in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity of choice, in her memory, is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on Aug. 10, 1940, Mary was the daughter of Betty Givens Alexander and William Loring Alexander Jr. She was a graduate of R.L. Paschal High School and Texas Christian University. Her family were longtime members of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. Survivors: In addition to her daughters, Mary Elizabeth Kassels and her husband, Charlie, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sara Alayne Kvale of Houston, Mary is survived by her grandchildren, Sara and Herschel Kassels and Anna Kvale; brother and his wife, Willliam James "Jim" and Lori Alexander; nephew and niece, Matthew James and Leighann Alexander; and other family members.
