FORT WORTH -- Martin David Siegel died peacefully at his home Thursday afternoon, April 3, 2014, surrounded by his family. Mr. Siegel was 86 years old. Service: 11 a.m. Sunday in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park with Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger officiating. Shiva will be held at the Siegel residence with minyan services beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Jewish Family Services, the Jewish Federation of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, or to the Rosenthal-Siegel Family Religious School Endowment at Beth-El Congregation, in his memory, is suggested. Although born in the Queens borough of New York City, Martin was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and Aspen, Colo. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Martin was happiest when surrounded by his family. In recent years, he was at ease enjoying a glass of wine with his children and grandchildren, whether at his home in Fort Worth or out on the deck in Aspen. He was gregarious, best known for his sense of humor and the twinkle in his eyes. He was a philanthropist and patron of the arts, who along with his wife, Evelyn, supported educational venues and artists in both Fort Worth and Aspen for over 60 years. Martin's business legacy included manufacturing facilities in Texas and South Carolina and distribution points throughout the U.S. He was a driving force in four generations of a family business originally started by his grandfather. A graduate of Georgia Tech and a Mason, Martin served in the Merchant Marine during World War II and was an avid pilot for many years. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 64 years, Evelyn, Martin is survived by his sons and their wives, Jeff and Pam Siegel, Terry and Cynthia Siegel, Jon and Suzie Siegel, and Aaron and Nancy Siegel; grandchildren, Jason and Danielle Siegel, Courtney and Will Landes, Jennifer, Sean, Tara, Samantha, Allison, Jessica, Emily, Caren, Katie and Isaac Siegel; great-grandson, Jack; sister and her husband, Caryle and Bob Stock; brother and his wife, William and Jean Siegel; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and countless lifelong friends in Texas and Colorado.
