MARTHA RIVEIRE ANDREAS

FORT WORTH -- Martha Louise Sheets Riveire Andreas died peacefully Monday morning, Aug. 5, 2013, during her 81st year. Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Ridglea United Methodist Church, 6036 Locke Ave. Martha will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard, who died in 2004, in Midway Cemetery, Johnson County. She will lie in state noon to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Parlor at Robertson Mueller Harper; her family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Born in Granite City, Ill., Martha was the daughter of Ray H. and Grace Turner Sheets. She was a graduate of North Texas State University, where she received her degree in music education and was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, music education fraternity. Martha taught music and English in the public school system and served as a substitute. Privately, she taught piano and did music transcribing. Her first musical performance was at age 6 with her sister, Leota. She played professionally as an oboist and symphony musician and enjoyed music so much that, even into her 70s, she played in a ukulele quartet and the melodica instrument in a "Modulators" group with 80- and 90-year-olds! She had many interests and hobbies beyond music. Included were family, dog "Trixie," sewing, ice skating and singing in her church choir. Also of interest were crafts, hiking and camping, dancing and gardening. Martha's many memberships included the United Methodist Church, Campo'tel, National Campers & Hikers Association and others. Survivors: In addition to her children, Sheri Riveire, Robert and Connie Riviere, Carolyn Johnson, John Riveire, Vicki and Clint Wakefield and Lawren Riveire, Martha is survived by their father, John P. Riveire; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Leota Sheets Bunnage; and nieces and nephews.
