FORT WORTH -- Marilyn McDavid Martin passed away peacefully Monday morning, December 18, 2017. Mrs. Martin was 89. SERVICE: A service at the grave will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Born March 27, 1928 in Henderson, Marilyn was the daughter of Vernon and Winnie McDavid. She graduated valedictorian from Henderson High School before attending Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, for one year, and graduated cum laude, with a B.A., from the University of Texas at Austin. In 1949, Marilyn married Robert Martin, a U.T. engineering graduate. She and Robert enjoyed 65 years of happy married life. Marilyn and Robert spent the first years of their marriage living in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Southern California, finally moving back to Dallas in 1953. In 1996, they moved, with their two children, to Fort Worth where she continued to live until the time of her death. Marilyn was active in several Chi Omega Alumni associations and activities, the Woman's Club of Fort Worth and AFS, hosting foreign exchange students. She enjoyed cooking, reading, painting, traveling and antiquing. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. SURVIVORS: In addition to her daughter, Ann Martin-Gontier and her husband, Christophe, Marilyn is survived by her son, David B. Martin; and grandchildren, Alex and Austin Gontier.
