Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the MouseAbout Memorial Fund, 301 Hughbanks Road, Cle Elum, Wash. 98922. Born Marie Lanelle Lawhon on Jan. 20, 1922, in Magness, Ark., Mickey was the daughter of Luther Monroe and Bertie Keeney Lawhon. She was a 1937 graduate of Greenville High School and a 1941 graduate of Brantley Draughon Business College. Mickey and Gene Costello survived a "romantic" first date at the Fort Worth fights, married in 1955, raised four children and enjoyed 35 years of marriage. At the age of 70 and after Gene passed away, Mickey began working at a local YMCA, working the 5 a.m. shift, where it took her no time to receive the "Employee of the Year" award. She moved to a retirement community where she met and married Bill Crowder, her next door neighbor. They made the best they could of what turned out to be only a few years together before some health issues took Bill's life. At age 80, Mickey and Claude Phillips were married. Their nine years of marriage were a wonderful example to all of two people who loved life and loved the people in their lives. Mickey was an amazing and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, stepmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She will forever be remembered as a sweet, caring and fun person - a woman who knew no strangers. Many who have known Mickey have often described her as special and one of their most favorite persons ever. Her family echoes those sentiments and acknowledges with deep gratitude the gift that she has been in each of our lives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, Ray and Wallace Lawhon; and sisters, Merle Pugh and Roberta Jones. Survivors: Mickey will be dearly missed by her children, Jane Costello of Houston, Joe Costello and his wife, Saundra, of Baton Rouge, La., Judy Marquardt and her husband, Tom, of Hudson Oaks, and Joyce Costello, also of Houston; grandchildren, David, Rebekah and Samuel Marquardt; her extended family, Randee Dewey, Claudia Phillips, Devon Talley and Karen Martin and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
