Loop 820 North, North Richland Hills. Following military honors at 1:15 p.m. Monday, he will be laid to rest in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends will gather 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions, in his memory, to the Longhorn Council, Boy Scouts of America or to the building fund at Trinity Valley School where his children are alumni and his grandchildren are current students, is suggested. Born Sept. 27, 1945, in Sheffield, Ala., Larry was the son of the late Allen Alexander and Gertrude Jeffries Green. His focus in life was always taking care of others, most importantly his family, but also through his job, his volunteer work in Scouting and at church. Larry married Sandra Ann Terry June 30, 1966. They were college sweethearts at the University of North Alabama and were even the school mascots together. The summer he was 15, Larry attended Boy Scout camp and took a first aid course. That course would change the direction of his life forever. He knew then that he wanted to be a physician and care for others for the rest of his life. Larry received a bachelor's of science from the University of North Alabama, formerly Florence State University, completing his coursework in only three years. He then received a doctor of medicine from the University of Alabama. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center, San Antonio. Later in life, Larry received a masters of business administration in medical management from the University of Dallas. Larry practiced obstetrics and gynecology first in the United States Air Force and then in private practice in Alabama and finally in Fort Worth, where he practiced for over 20 years and was chief of staff of Plaza Medical Center. Larry was also CEO of a local IPA of 250 physicians and president of an MSO board with over 2,000 physicians. After retiring from private practice, Larry worked as a medical director in managed care for companies such as Tricare, Molina and most recently, Humana, building HMO programs and continuing to care for others. Larry spent countless hours volunteering for the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America, giving back to the organization that had helped shape his life at summer camp years ago. He received many awards for his service, including the Distinguished Commissioner Award and the Silver Beaver. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Sandra, Larry is survived by his children, Kendra Green-Dias and her husband, Luiz, and Joshua A. Green and his wife, Tessa; grandchildren, Ava Elisabeth and Savannah Marina Green-Dias and Charles Alexander Green; brother, Albert Wayne Green and his wife, Sharon; and nieces and nephews and their families.
