FORT WORTH -- Kay Dolores Spears Underwood, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and co-worker, passed from this life peacefully Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2013, early in her 71st year. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Marty Leonard Community Chapel at the Lena Pope Home, 3131 Sanguinet St. Visitation: Family and friends will gather 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to United Community Centers, Fort Worth Botanical Garden or the Humane Society of North Texas, in her memory, is suggested. Born in San Diego, Calif., on Dec. 18, 1941, Kay was the daughter of William David and Louise Childers Spears. She moved to Fort Worth as a young child and graduated from Trimble Tech High School and Texas Christian University. Kay was a nurse with over 30 years of experience at North Hills Hospital. She touched many lives and took great pride in her job. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and traveling and was an accomplished painter. Survivors: In addition to her sons and their wives, William J. Luck II and Paula and David Underwood and Valerie, Kay is survived by her grandsons, Joey Luck and Tyler and Grant Underwood; sister, Karen Benson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Linda Hardman; nephews and nieces, Jeff, Tim and Christina and Jonathan and Bobbi; and other family members.
