FORT WORTH -- Joy Goldstein Spiegel passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 27, 2014. Mrs. Spiegel was 90 years old. Service: 3 p.m. Monday in the Kornbleet Memorial Cemetery Chapel, located in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, 411 N. University Drive, with Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger of Beth-El Congregation officiating. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Seymour, who died in 1971. Shiva and minyan service will be held at the home of Daniel J. "Red" and Julie Goldstein's home beginning at 6 p.m. Monday. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Fort Worth Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or to the Tarrant Literacy Coalition, in her memory, is suggested. Born Nov. 14, 1923, in Fort Worth, Joy was the daughter of Hyman Jacob "Jake" and Rebecca "Becky" Wolf Goldstein. She was part of the Goldstein Brothers Jewelers family that has been in Fort Worth since 1892. Joy graduated from R.L. Paschal High School and later earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in English at the University of North Texas. She was a published author and poet. Joy and her husband also owned and operated Seymour's Photo Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five siblings. Survivors: In addition to her sons, Andy Spiegel of Austin and Ric Spiegel of Dallas, Joy is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
