FORT WORTH -- Joseph Lawrence Coggan passed away peacefully Friday morning, Feb. 20, 2015. Service: A private committal service was held at the grave by immediate family members in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Dallas. Joseph was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Chelsea, Mass. Upon graduation from high school, he served two years in the U.S. Navy. Following his tour of service, Joseph attended and graduated from Georgia Tech University where he received BA degrees in science and architecture. He made a career as an architect in the Engineering Division with the Army/Air Force Exchange Service. Joseph was devoted to his family and his synagogue. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Bruder Coggan; and his daughter, Sandi Coggan Matton. Survivors: In addition to his second wife, Bootsie Mehl Coggan, Joseph is survived by his son, Eric Coggan; daughters, Madelyn Rice Gibbs and spouse, Trey Gibbs, and Sherrie Rice and spouse, George Greytak; grandsons, Aaron and Daniel Greytak; brother, Dr. William Coggan; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
