Houston, Texas - John Howard Hart passed away peacefully Saturday, December 4. He was 82. Following a Masonic Service at the Grave at 11 am Friday, January 7, 2022, he will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park. The only child of Howard and Juanita Grange Hart, John graduated from San Marcos military academy in 1957 as a member of Company C. Having been raised to Master Mason in 1982, John was a proud member of Alvarado Lodge #314, A.F. & A.M. John enjoyed sketching, road trips, and spent the last few years of his life writing short stories. He would frequently and fondly reminisce on the adventures and friends of his youth. Of note were the summers he spent in Venezuela where he learned to love warm climates, palm trees, dry martinis and healthy debate. Through his life-long passions for reading, sports cars and motorcycles, both of which he raced when he was young, he adopted the following motto, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke thoroughly used up, worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow, what a ride.” – Hunter S. Thompson.
