FORT WORTH -- Jerry Carl Wright was ushered into his heavenly home Monday afternoon, Nov. 24, 2014, surrounded by the presence of family and friends. Mr. Wright was 67 years old. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday at McKinney Bible Church, 4805 Arborlawn Drive. Jerry will be laid to rest privately in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: Family and friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Beautiful Feet Ministries Capital Campaign, P.O. Box 6212, Fort Worth, Texas 76115, in his memory is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on Jan. 10, 1947, Jerry was the eldest son of Jessie Carl Wright and Rebecca Hall Wright. After graduating from R.L. Paschal High School, he attended Texas Wesleyan University, where he majored in business and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. While in college, Jerry met the love of his life, Cynthia Porter, whom he married at Connell Baptist Church on Nov. 21, 1970. After graduating from college, Jerry worked in sales for Motorola, before becoming partners with his father in the family business, AAA Glass and Mirror Company, in 1978, as well as eventually becoming owner of Layne Glass Company. He was extremely active in the glass industry, including serving as president of the National Glass Association in the early 1990s, and multiple board terms, including several as president, of the Texas Glass Association. A lifelong Fort Worth resident, he was an active member of the Fort Worth business and civic community, including volunteering for more than 30 years with the Kiwanis Club. But he was perhaps best for his big heart, broad smile and love for Jesus. Jerry was a good friend and encourager to many. He and his wife Cynthia have been longtime members at McKinney Church. One of Jerry's favorite activities was serving at Beautiful Feet Ministries, where he volunteered for many years. At the time of his homecoming, he was chairman of the board, leading with his booming voice and generous spirit. When not busy working or volunteering, Jerry enjoyed rooting for the TCU football team, fishing on the Texas coast, hunting and spending time with his family. His grandchildren will particularly miss having popcorn and ice cream with their doting "Papa." Survivors: In addition to his wife, Cynthia of Fort Worth, Jerry is survived by his daughters, Tracy Steiner and her husband, David, and Sarah Lary and her husband, James, all of Dallas; son, Cliff Wright and his fiancee, Mandi Gasparini, of Fort Worth; three adoring grandchildren, Luke and Porter Kate Lary and Elisabeth Steiner; brothers, Randy Wright and his wife, Laura, also of Dallas, and Doyle Wright and his wife, Diane, of Fort Worth; and his mother-in-law, Earnesteen Porter of Fort Worth.
