Fort Worth, Texas - Jean Lucas passed away peacefully at home on her 91st birthday. Born in Roby, Texas, she was the daughter of Johnny and Ethel Johnson, Jean spent most of her life in Fort Worth, where she built a rich and vibrant life rooted in community, family, and faith. She enjoyed traveling, but most of all, she enjoyed touring the world with her family.
A woman of style and elegance, Jean was known for always being ahead of the trends, but it was her generous spirit and thoughtful nature that truly set her apart. Whether it was a warm greeting, a kind gesture, or simply making sure everyone felt comfortable and cared for, Jean had a remarkable way of making people feel seen and special.
Jean was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth and had been actively involved in the community through The Woman's Club, Nautilus, Bankers Wives, and Ridglea Country Club. Her friendships ran deep, and she will be forever missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Ethel Johnson; her husband, Bill Lucas; her sister, Vera Feil; and her son-in-law, Vincent Chao.
In addition to her daughter, Lisa Chao, Jean is survived by her brother; Larry Johnson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her warmth, generosity, and grace.
Family and friends will gather from 10 to 11 am Thursday, April 17, in the Chapel at Harper & Lucas, formerly Robertson Mueller Harper, with a Celebration of Her Life beginning at 11 am. She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park.
