HURST -- James Peter Shultz passed away peacefully Sunday evening, June 14, 2015. Mr. Shultz was 95 years old. Memorial service: 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3621 Tulsa Way, with the Rev. Erik Gronberg, pastor of the church, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Shultz's cremated remains were placed in the columbarium at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or to a charity of choice, in his memory, is suggested. Born July 9, 1919, in Dickinson, N.D., Jim was the son of Seth and Ida Hundt Shultz. Growing up in Minnesota and Illinois, he graduated from Broadview Academy before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his tour of service, Jim attended Capital University and graduated in 1950. He joined the university's administration staff and eventually becoming VP for student affairs. In 1977, Jim accepted a position with Lutheran Social Service in Illinois as director of planned giving and helped organize and develop the Cornerstone Foundation. In 1989, Jim and his wife, Janiel, moved to Hurst and quickly became immersed in the life and activities of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and oldest son, David James Shultz. Survivors: In addition to his daughter, Arloa Shultz Burbank and her husband, Tom, of Tucson, Ariz., Jim is survived by his son, Paul Albrecht Shultz and his wife, Barbi, of Round Rock; grandchildren, Matthew Shultz, Jana Pelligrino, Steve Shultz, April Shultz, Jason Shultz and his wife, Jerri, and Joshua Shultz; great-grandson, Conner Shultz; and nieces and nephews and their families.
