James "Doc" "Jim" Carroll Sherwood of Fort Worth, TX, age 72, transitioned from his earthly life to eternal reward with His Lord, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in the company of his wife and family.
Jim, born in Washington, DC on February 28, 1950, was the second child of Mae Donovan Sherwood and James Leonard Sherwood. Raised in Baltimore, Md, Jim graduated from Woodlawn High School. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, served 26 years, and retired as Chief Petty Officer, and affectionately known as "Doc" by those who served with him. Following his career in the military, Jim pursued a degree in teaching at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Jim displayed appreciation and knowledge of World History & Cultural studies, Music, and Art. Jim is best known by those closest to him for his "wicked sense of humor" and "proclivity for service to others". His ebullient spirit is mourned by all who know him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 20 years, Colleen Marie Callahan Sherwood, Daughter Jessica Letitia Sherwood and Husband Andrew Waldrip, Son James Peter Sherwood and Wife Lanisha, Three Grandchildren, Wulfric Andrew Waldrip, Fiona Jewel Sherwood, Thomas James Sherwood, Stepdaughter Jody Marie Alexander and David Stanley, Alexandra Grace Joyce, Beloved friends Jane Waldsachs Matthews and Husband T.L., extended family, and friends.
