Owen II on June 27, 1975, in Shreveport, La., to James C. Owen and Nell R. Owen. He graduated from Captain Shreve High School where he played guitar in the high school jazz band. When Dad got work in Memphis, Tenn., home of the blues, he moved up there with him and got to play on stage with Little Jimmy King. He teamed up with some members of "Pointe Blank" band in Fort Worth and cut a few demo recordings called "It Is What It Is." He also played in local gigs with some of those guys in and around Fort Worth. Later he teamed up with Janna Britton and played lead guitar with "Janna Britton and Abbeville." He played several gigs with "Whiskey Jack." His final gig playing lead guitar was with a group in Fort Worth named "Cornerstone." He was preceded in death by his brother, William Edward Drewry; his maternal grandparents, William Clifton Hood and Elvie Hood, of Dubach, La.; and his grandfather, Carl P. Owen of Shreveport, La.
