FORT WORTH -- Hortense Evelyn Loonstein Evans, a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 17, 2012, during her 91st year. Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel at Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road, with Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger officiating. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Earle, in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 17, 1920, Evelyn was the daughter of Jacob and Ruth Schimek. She was a 63-year resident of Fort Worth who shared her many skills as an arts and crafts teacher and PTA president. Evelyn was a member of Beth-El Congregation and was active in Hadassah. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earle Israel Evans; son, Richard Evans; sister, Betty Evans; brother, Ira Loonstein; and son-in-law, Chuck Zamutt. Survivors: In addition to her daughters, Lynne Smith, Jeanne Zamutt, Sherri Evans-Stanton and Julie Johnson, Evelyn is survived by her sons-in-law, Timothy Smith, Mark Stanton and James Johnson; nine loving grandchildren; cousin, Sylvia Loonstein; niece, Laurie Furem; and nephew, Joel Evans.
