Mr. HOLMAN RAY LEE

FORT WORTH -- Holman Ray Lee, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, early Thursday afternoon, Feb. 6, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was 87 years old. Service: A celebration of Holman's life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Travis Avenue Baptist Church, 800 W. Berry St., with the Rev. Dr. Michael Dean officiating. Family and friends will gather in the church's Great Room immediately following the memorial service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Praisingers Choir or the building fund at Travis Avenue Baptist Church or to a charity of choice, in his memory, is suggested. Born in Russellville, Ark., on Sept. 6, 1926, Holman was the son of F.H. and Thelma Braselton Lee, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Quanah High School and Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth. After serving in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Germany after World War II, Holman returned to Graham where he taught in the high school and served as acting postmaster. He was active in car dealerships in Graham, Jacksboro, Mineral Wells and Fort Worth. While in Fort Worth, he became a broker in residential and commercial real estate. In 1953, Holman married Gladeene Womack; together they raised two children. The family were active members of Travis Avenue Baptist Church where Holman had served as business administrator. He was a deacon and Bible teacher for over 50 years and sang and played bass in the Praisingers Choir. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer, playing with his son, shortly before his death. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 60 years, Gladeene, Holman is survived by his children, Lisa Lee Taylor and her husband, Jeff, and Bruce Lee and his wife, Deborah; grandchildren, Sydney Taylor and Taylor Lee; brother, Layton Lee and his wife, Sharon; and nieces and their husbands, Deanna and Kyle Durden and Lori and Mark Mausolf and their children; an aunt; and several cousins.
