Henry graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970, earning a BBA with an accounting and finance majors. He was very active in his years at the university, serving as rush captain for Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity for two years and as social chairman, planning many memorable activities. Henry excelled in all intra-mural sports, winning the national handball championship (doubles) his senior year. Upon graduation, Henry married the love of his life, Jeanie Hirsch, of Marshall. They moved to Fort Worth in June 1970, beginning a beautiful 43-year journey through life together. They had two wonderful, devoted children, Steven Eric Luskey and Valrie Luskey Eberstein. Henry's first job after graduation was in public accounting with the firm Arthur Young. He immediately earned his CPA, while Jeanie taught kindergarten. In February 1971, Henry and Jeanie opened their first retail store, Henry's Jean Scene. Over the next 23 years, Henry expanded his retail operation throughout Texas, opening 19 stores. This included Cambridge Clothiers and Seville Shop, which were well known and loved by all of Fort Worth. Henry was admired for his attention to detail and his keen business acumen. His employees affectionately referred to him as the "hawk eye" because nothing escaped his attention in any department of his business. During his retail career, Henry was the primary supplier of private school uniforms for the greater Fort Worth area. He developed this niche within his retail operation, encompassing everything from manufacturing to sales. Henry's creative abilities enabled him to expand this aspect of the business tremendously. Working 60-plus hours per week, Henry still found the time to give back to the community that supported him. He served on the board of directors of Ridglea Bank for many years, and loved his association with such a fine group of businessmen. He also served on the board of Lena Pope Home and was a member of the board of directors of Country Day School for six years. Henry was a past president of Congregation Ahavath Sholom Synagogue and had been chairman of their finance committee for over 25 years. Henry was co-chairman of the capital campaign for Ahavath Sholom's new building, and took great pride and satisfaction in moving his congregation from 8th Avenue to Hulen Street. Henry loved his involvement in many additional civic and social organizations including Steeplechase, Jewel Charity, Shady Oaks Country Club and Magnolia League, just to name a few. In 1994, Henry ended his retail career and followed his true passion in finance and the stock market. He became a financial advisor with Prudential Securities, and earned numerous awards for his achievements from the onset of his financial career. He achieved the Chairman's Club status, which includes the top 100 producers nation-wide, after only a few years in business. He and Jeanie traveled extensively with this group for years, making lifelong, treasured friends. Henry chose to move his financial group to Morgan Stanley in 2006, and wass currently executive director of The Luskey Group. Henry again attained the Chairman's Club status, demonstrating his strong work ethic to all who knew him. For the last four years, the business publication, Barron's, selected Henry to be on their list of "Top 1000 Financial Advisors" in the country. This listing recognizes an elite group of top financial advisors who are passionate about their mission to provide exceptional wealth management services to clients. Henry's love for his family knew no bounds, and he always believed that "family comes first." One of his greatest joys in life was being a grandfather to his two grandchildren: Simon and Charlotte. He became a grandfather five years ago, and took tremendous pride in being a fun and loving "Poppi." Henry will be affectionately remembered for his unwavering loyalty and commitment to his family and friends. His selfless love and constant care for others are true examples for all who were blessed to know him. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Sonya and Ben Luskey; his in-laws, Phyllis and Joe W. Hirsch; and his brother-in-law, Dr. David Weisman Hirsch. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his caregivers from Community Hospice of Texas and to Dee Dee Jones.
